Che cos’è un server STUN?
Un server STUN (Simple Traversal of User Datagram Protocol [UDP] Through Network Address Translators [NATs]) permette ai client NAT (es: computer dietro ad un firewall) di impostare le chiamate telefoniche ad un provider VOIP ospitato all’esterno della rete locale.
Il server permette ai client di scovare il loro indirizzo pubblico, il tipo di NAT dietro al quale si trovano e il lato della porta internet associato dal NAT con una particolare porta locale. Questa informazione è usata per impostare la comunicazione UDP tra il client e il provider VOIP in modo da stabilire una chiamata. Il protocollo STUN è definito nel RFC 3489.
Il server STUN è contattato sulla porta UDP 3478, in ogni modo il server suggerirà anche ai client di eseguire test su un IP e un numero di porta alternativa (i server STUN hanno due indirizzi IP). L’ RFC afferma che questa porta e l’IP sono arbitrari.
